Age UK Norfolk – Digital Inclusion Volunteer

Role description – To make visits to an older person (or persons) in Norfolk to teach them how to use a device so that can get better connected and do things online shopping and banking.

Minimum time commitment & flexibility – Flexible as it maybe once a week or once a month depending on the client but must be between Mon-Fri 10-4pm.

Any specific skills or experience required – Good communication skills.  • An ability to talk through how to use a tablet/iPad from basic usage (turning on the tablet and answering a video call) to responding to emails and online shopping. • Reliability and trustworthiness. • Ability to work on own initiative. • A positive and cheerful outlook.

All roles require DBS check.

One off volunteer taster/ drop-ins available – No.

Training offered and skills development potential – Training and ongoing support is provided. Level of training will depend on the volunteer role. Contact us for more information. Expenses, such as the cost of mileage and phone calls are paid for.

Other information: Volunteering is a great way to give back to your local community and make a difference in people’s lives. Without the help and support of our incredible volunteers, we would not be able to help as many people as we do. 

Age UK Norfolk – Money M.O.T Volunteer

Role description – To help an older person manage and improve their financial wellbeing through structured support in budgeting, banking, benefits, and paperwork organisation.

Minimum time commitment & flexibility – Flexible as it maybe once a week or once a month depending on the client but must be between Mon-Fri 10-4pm.

Any specific skills or experience required – Ability to process information from various sources (calls, emails, documents). Clear and accurate note-taking. Confidence in assisting with forms and correspondence. Problem-solving and solution-oriented thinking. Commitment to equal opportunities and understanding of challenges faced by older people. Strong listening and communication skills. Empathy and patience All roles require DBS check

One off volunteer taster/ drop-ins available – No.

Training offered and skills development potential – Training and ongoing support is provided. Level of training will depend on the volunteer role. Contact us for more information. Expenses, such as the cost of mileage and phone calls are paid for.

Age UK Norfolk – Companionship Volunteer

Title of volunteer role – Companionship Volunteer

Role description – Making weekly calls to an older person or visiting them in their home. To support older people on a short term basis to get out and about whether walking or using public transport to attend appointments, go shopping or attend community groups etc.  

Minimum time commitment & flexibility – Telephone Befriending is 30 minutes a week. Calls to be made between 9-6.30pm. Journeys for Travelling or face to face Companionship can be done Mon-Friday 10-4pm. Volunteering a morning/afternoon  once a week or every 2 week.

Any specific skills or experience required – • The ability to relate to and empathise with older people. • Good communication and I.T. skills • An ability to talk to people on a wide range of subjects.• Ability to give and to accept support as part of a team.• Reliability and trustworthiness.• Ability to work on own initiative.• A positive and cheerful outlook.

All roles require DBS check.
